The Fate of the Ocarina
Once upon a time, there was a mountain village. A young boy named Afu loved kneading clay. By chance, he made an ocarina. The sound was pleasant, and since then he became obsessed with improving it. The village was hit by a drought. The crops failed and the water source dried up, and the villagers were in despair. Afu was anxious. He stayed by the pottery kiln day and night, ignoring his scalded hands and red eyes from the smoke. He repeatedly fired the ocarina for praying for rain. Finally, on a full moon night, he made an ocarina engraved with runes. After he blew it, dark clouds gathered and heavy rain poured down, moistening the land. The villagers cheered. Afu became famous far and wide. He also passed on his craftsmanship to the children. His story was passed down from generation to generation.
